History of Mai Kitchen Works

Meet the Designer

Thoughtful Design. Trusted Experience.

MInh Ho Owner and Designer

Minh Ho is the founder and lead designer of Mai Kitchen Works, bringing nearly 30 years of experience designing and managing high-end residential projects across La Jolla and San Diego, as well as Bellevue, Washington and Tampa Bay, Florida. He holds a BA in Fine Arts from UC Santa Barbara and a Master’s degree in Interior Design from San Diego State University—an education that reflects his balance of artistic vision and technical expertise.

Minh’s approach is highly personal. He believes exceptional kitchens are designed around the people who use them—how they cook, gather, and live day to day. Rather than focusing solely on cabinetry, Minh carefully designs the entire layout, guiding clients through cabinet selection, finishes, and details that align with both their aesthetic and investment.

From initial concept through installation, Minh works closely with homeowners, interior designers, and general contractors to ensure every element is executed as intended. Clients value his hands-on involvement, clear communication, and steady presence throughout the project.

At Mai Kitchen Works, the commitment doesn’t end when the cabinets arrive. Minh remains engaged from start to finish, delivering kitchens that are not only beautiful, but deeply functional—spaces designed to be enjoyed for years to come.

What’s in a name?

Mai Kitchen Works is named in honor of Minh’s mother, Mrs. Mai—a gifted cook whose warmth and creativity filled every kitchen she touched. Though humble by nature, she became head cook in several Vietnamese restaurants after immigrating to the United States.

In the years following the Vietnam War, when food was scarce, Mrs. Mai relied on ingenuity and heart to create meals that brought people together. Her cooking made kitchens work—and made people happy. Word spread, and guests traveled miles to experience her food in Southern California.

That same spirit guides Minh today. With over 25 years of experience, he designs kitchens around how people truly cook and live—creating spaces that function beautifully and bring lasting joy.
